Why We're Building Vertical SaaS for India — The Synetix Story

The Problem We Kept Seeing
Over 18 years of building software across multiple industries, I noticed the same pattern repeating.
A salon owner in Delhi was using a generic business management app that was designed for retail stores. Half the features were irrelevant. The billing didn't support service-based pricing. There was no concept of appointment slots.
A clinic in Mumbai was running on a hospital management system built for large institutions — far too complex, expensive, and mismatched for a 3-doctor practice.
A restaurant owner was juggling three different apps for billing, inventory, and customer management — none of which talked to each other.
In each case, the problem wasn't that software didn't exist. The problem was that the software wasn't built for them.
Why Generic Software Fails Specific Industries
When you build software for everyone, you build it for no one in particular.
Generic business software makes assumptions about how businesses work. It assumes your inventory items are physical products, not services. It assumes your customers make one-time purchases, not recurring appointments. It assumes your staff has fixed salaries, not service-based commissions.
These assumptions work for some businesses. But for salons, clinics, restaurants, and thousands of other service-based industries — they create friction at every step.
The result is software that businesses tolerate, not software that actually helps them grow.
The Vertical SaaS Thesis
Vertical SaaS is a simple but powerful idea: build software specifically for one industry, and build it deeply.
Instead of building a generic CRM, build a CRM designed specifically for salon owners — with appointment booking, service history, and WhatsApp marketing built in from the ground up.
Instead of building a generic billing tool, build a billing system designed specifically for clinics — with patient records, recall automation, and healthcare-specific reporting.
When you go deep on one industry, you can solve problems that generic software can never touch.
Why India, Why Now
India has over 63 million small and medium businesses. The vast majority of them are service-based — salons, clinics, restaurants, coaching institutes, repair shops, and hundreds of other verticals.
Most of these businesses are still running on paper registers, WhatsApp groups, and Excel sheets. The ones that have adopted software are often using tools that don't fit their workflows.
At the same time, smartphone penetration is at an all-time high. Cloud adoption is accelerating. And AI is making it possible to build software that is not just functional, but genuinely intelligent.
The window to build category-defining vertical SaaS products for Indian SMEs is open right now.
What We're Building at Synetix
Synetix Technologies is building a portfolio of AI-powered SaaS products — each one designed for a specific industry.
Salon Manager — for beauty and wellness businesses. Appointments, billing, staff management, WhatsApp automation, and analytics built specifically for how salons operate.
DoctorDesk — for healthcare providers. Patient management, appointment scheduling, revenue tracking, and recall automation for clinics and independent practitioners.
Swadify — for restaurants and food service businesses. QR menus, ordering, POS, kitchen operations, and marketing automation.
Nexora CRM — for sales-driven businesses. Lead pipeline management, automation, WhatsApp integration, and reporting.
Brain Battle — for education. Gamified learning, multiplayer quizzes, and engagement tools for schools and training programs.
Each product is built independently, serving its own industry. But they share a common foundation: AI-powered automation, cloud-native architecture, and a deep understanding of how Indian SMEs actually operate.
The Long-Term Vision
We're not building five apps. We're building a portfolio of market-leading vertical SaaS products under one company.
The model is similar to what Zoho has done for business software — multiple products, each best-in-class for its category, operating under one trusted brand.
Our focus right now is on proving the model in the verticals we've already entered, acquiring real customers, and expanding to additional industries over time.
A Note to Founders and Investors
If you're a founder building in a specific vertical, we'd love to talk. If you're an investor who believes in the vertical SaaS thesis for India, we'd love to connect.
The opportunity is large, the timing is right, and we're already building.
Reach out to us — we're always happy to have a conversation.
